Presentation

In the presentation what we going to present was all about Creative multimedia and cave drawing. We found that that was so made sensed about the Cave Drawing as the mother of the Creative Multimedia.
For the earlier century, people who live in cave did many drawing on the wall as Cave Drawing, they record down there feeling, daily activity, emotion and even their think. Many of the words, symbols and even shape that we are using nowadays were been created by them.
Nowadays, we do documentation communication and even decoration through internet, handwriting, drawing, recording and etc. we are using multimedia ways to present our feeling, thinking, opinion, emotion and daily activity just like how cave drawing been done.
We had Facebook, Blogger, Friendster, Photoshop, Illustrator, and etc.
Besides, we present this entire thing with creativity, this is also exactly just like how they presenting their thinking on the wall.
Cave Drawing is the mother of Creative Multimedia who creating, leading and producing us a very good medium or tool to convert our information.

Lesson 8

Juxploration on analogy metaphor
Analogy in Juxtaposition
-making familiar
-use in daily conversation to use something same to explain something complex

there are two type of anologies
1.Logical Analogies
-use similarities in design, structure or function to connect back to the subject

2.Effective Anologies
-emotional resemblance
-the use of an animal to explain a certain characteristic of a person
-more frequently in conversation  to emphrase certain points

ANALOGIES
reasoning or explaining from parallel cases. A simile is an expressed analogy; a metaphor is an implied one. Adjective:analogous

Simile
figure of speech in which two fundamentally unlike things are explicitly compared, usually in a phrase introduced by like or as. See also:

Metaphor
figure of speech in which an implied comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common. A metaphor expresses the unfamiliar (the tenor) in terms of the familiar (the vehicle). When Neil Young sings, "Love is a rose," "rose" is the vehicle for "love," the tenor. (In cognitive linguistics, the terms target and source are roughly equivalent to tenor and vehicle.) Adj.: metaphorical.

i got some nice example of Juxposition [oxymoron]

  • land:river::body:veins
  • pig:pork::steer:beef
  • small:petite::large:giant
  • panel:door::pane:window
  • eye:sight::teeth:chew
  • hand:elbow::foot:knee
  • meow:cat::bark:dog

  • mitten:hand::sock:foot
  • author:story::poet:poetry
  • seed:tree::egg:bird

  • lion:cage::book:bookcase

For me, I will like to define what is Anologies and Metaphor. So I done some studies by surfing website. This is my conclusion, despite certain similarities, an analogy is not the same as a metaphor. As Bradford Stull observes in The Elements of Figurative Language (Longman, 2002), the analogy "is a figure of language that expresses a set of like relationships among two sets of terms. In essence, the analogy does not claim total identification, which is the property of the metaphor. It claims a similarity of relationships."
In the following example of an effective analogy, science writer Claudia Kalb relies on the computer to explain how our brains process memories:
Some basic facts about memory are clear. Your short-term memory is like the RAM on a computer: it records the information in front of you right now. Some of what you experience seems to evaporate--like words that go missing when you turn off your computer without hitting SAVE. But other short-term memories go through a molecular process called consolidation: they're downloaded onto the hard drive. These long-term memories, filled with past loves and losses and fears, stay dormant until you call them up.

Lesson 7

Lesson 7

Juxtaposition

in the class, the meaning of juxtaposition are :
1. an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, esp. for comparison or contrast.
2. the state of being close together or side by side. all form lecturer :  Simply stated, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side.

In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

for me juxtaposition was simply stated, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.there is the

example of Juxtaposition that i love the most.

Lesson 6

In the class , lecturer teach us what is Associated Mind Map

associated mind map and logical mind map is also defined as a stereotype mind map
Stereotype mind map is everything that we draft or draw into the mind map
it is directly connected to the subject we are talking on.

As for associated mind map,
it seems that two different thing that links to a subject could have no connections at all.

After that class,it brings me back to my foundation times when we took the Design Fundamental course which requires us to do mind map all the time.That time,logical mind map is strongly stressed as we have to produce something out of a subject and that means,when the viewvers see ours artwork,they have to understand what we are trying to bring out from the subject that we have choosen.But as for me,having know about associated mind map,i guess this type of mind map can make people more creative in terms of their thinking and ideation.A mind map can make the learning becomes more effective in a way that it make sure that the person will never run out from their path and will hardly make mistake in achiveing what they are looking for.
i have found a informative sites about the mind map.

Lesson 4

Associated Mind Map

due to the quality problem please click and enlarge it

this is CNY homework for week4

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Lesson 3

Method of creative thinking.
   Briefing on mind maps (logical and associated mind map)
   And introduction to stereotype.
(*Do a creative digital mind map of yourself and upload it to your blog.  Give a simple explanation if you wish e.g. explain more about yourself, or your experience in doing the mind map etc.)[done in week four post]

  • about the class, i learnt how to
  • -Make better decisions through critical thinking and creative problem solving
  • -Adapt to different thinking styles in group and team environments
  • -Recognize and remove barriers to individual and group creativity to foster an innovative work environment
  • -Systematically analyze a target problem
  • -Present my ideas clearly and concisely for maximum stakeholder buy-in
  • -Transform your creativity into practical business solutions
and i knew mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking tool that helps structuring information, helping you to better analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate new ideas.

Just as in every great idea, its power lies in its simplicity.

          In a mind map, as opposed to traditional note taking or a linear text,information is structured in a way that resembles much more closely how your brain actually works. Since it is an activity that is both analytical and artistic, it engages your brain in a much, much richer way, helping in all its cognitive functions. And, best of all, it is fun!

Lesson 2

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention.
The history and its significance to the society.

in the class, lecturer mentioned that what is creative.
and told us Creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts
or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts,
fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight,
he show an example with holding a stick of stainless steel,
he could transform it into golf, crutches, baseball bat, and etc.
we should learnt to be more alert when thinking
for being creative we need to be "multi"thinking
sometimes simple thing can be creative too.

today class, i realised many thing that i always neglected
i always think of something with oli one way
maybe i could get more ideas if i always reminding myself
to do my brainstorming with more smart ways.
because of this lesson, i learnt the way to do smart brainstorming
and
i found the reason why i reached my limit of CREATIVE
and i get all the problem solved with one solution
really appreciate this lesson and what i learnt.

Research of Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention.

Novelty

Novelty definition from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novelty) stated that the quality of being new, although it may be said to have an objective dimension (such as abstract art or impression) it essentially exist in the subjective perception of individual.
Novelty Cakes For All Ages
novelty62http://www.sparklesparties.co.uk/novelty_cakes.htm
In my point of view, novelty means something new or unusual.Novelty is important for everybody in this world.
The study of creativity that is based on the presumption of novelty aims to reveal the universal laws of its generation and to explain how original works are produced by using the old material and known procedures. But even if an idea is novel, novelty on its own may not mean much. For an invention to have good commercial potential, it needs to be a significant improvement on prior art.
Vintage Novelty Pistol Gun Hairdryer

I love this gun hairdryer, funny! A working, fantastic condition, rare vintage novelty hair dryer, complete with white plastic holster. No electrocution worries, the silver gun material is plastic as well. Pull the hammer (on top) to the desired heat setting, squeeze the trigger and let’er rip.

Innovation

innovation1
www.effectiveui.com
Innovation is a new discipline born from the understanding and application of methods from several different areas, such as, design, business and social sciences. In my point of view, Innovation means changing the existing ideas or knowledge for the purpose of improvement. There are many conditions, knowledge and attitudes that have direct impact on building innovation competencies.
Key elements for an efficient innovation program of study are:
  • Critical Discussion (condition) - Learn through criticism,  from others,  and also self-criticism.  This can be done through teamwork activities and presentation where critical debate is encouraged.
  • Strategic Focus (knowledge) – Planning the designing process;  planning the activities through several class exercise involving game and student competition; and developed through research,  analytical and creative activities that reflect a general process of innovation.
  • Dependence on Methods (knowledge attitude) – Trust in their methods and technique.  Therefore,  the innovative program should focus in research,  analysis and synthesis.
  • Human-Centered  Approached (knowledge + attitude) – Success in their innovation is directly associated with the value it brings for people’ lives.  Therefore,  a successful program of study should include technique for accessing people’ needs.

Invention

Da Vinci Invention Tank

INNOVATIONS INTRODUCED:
Driven by men turning gear cranks, which turn the wheels.
The dome is based on the shell of the turtle and helps to deflect enemy projectiles.
The Tanks supports a number of cannons.
Funny Invention
funny_invention27
funny_invention28http://blog.malaysia-hosted.com/2008/07/17/funny-inventions/
Invention means “the act of finding out or inventing; contrivance or construction of that which has not before existed; as the invention of logarithms, the invention of the art of printing. (http://ardictionary.com/Invention/6704)
I think invention can be defined as creating new ideas using little knowledge which only created or invent by the inventor. There are some different between invention and innovation. As overall, innovation is the extension of invention or the process of improvement where begin.
Basically, that “Da Vinci Invention Tank” is invented by Da VinciThe main reason of it’s creation is to be offered to a potential Patron as means of breaking enemies line in war and to minimize the number of causalities (of the side using the tank).  So invention is using some knowledge to create something new.
